We strongly believe in the positive potential of AI and actively support its responsible use in the workplace. However, applications that use AI to generate a cover letter will be rejected, and the use of AI during any interviews or written exams will also result in rejection.
Whether they’re being made in the boardroom or the courtroom, good decisions rely on good evidence. Understanding what data to collect, how to analyse it, and how to draw out the relevant insights is vital to providing evidence that decision-makers can rely on.
Our Analytics and Data Science team specializes in the application of cutting-edge quantitative methods in Econometrics, Statistics, and Data Science. We leverage advanced methods to extract, transform, load and analyse data, delivering valuable insights to our clients through high-quality outcomes and impactful narratives. We are an international team, and work across several geographies—wherever data-driveninsights and innovative analytical approaches are needed.

What we’re looking for
• A well-established understanding of data science methods for causal and/or predictive analysis.
• An excellent academic record, with an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a quantitative field, for example computer science, mathematics, or data science, with a
significant focus on using data science methods for causal inference and/or prediction. A solid background in other analytics fields, e.g. econometrics, is a plus. If a relevant degree is not available, a proven track record of robust, reliable and insightful data analysis with a focus on implementation of data science methods for causal inference and/or prediction is a must have.
• Strong problem solving abilities, analytical skills and a client focus.
• Knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms is required. Previous experience in applications of these algorithms is a plus.
• Knowledge of implementing data science methods on distributed datasets, for example using Spark ML is a plus.
• Knowledge of text, image and other unstructured data processing is a plus.
• Knowledge of building simulation or agent-based models is advantageous.
• Knowledge of working with NLP models is a plus.
• An interest in working on complex economic issues as a part of a team of economists, econometricians or statisticians and other data scientists in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Proficiency in using at least one of R or Python for data wrangling (e.g. tidyverse, pandas), causal or predictive analysis (e.g. tidymodels, scikit-learn) and data visualisation (e.g.ggplot2, seaborn) is essential. If familiar with only one of these languages, an interest in learning the other is desirable. Familiarity with Stata and Excel is a plus.
• A keen eye for communicating empirical insights impactfully and an interest in transforming complex data sets or outcomes into visually appealing and easy-to-understand graphics, charts, and interactive dashboards, for example using Tableau, Power BI or R Shiny is a plus.
• Highly motivated and committed team player with a curiosity for economics, econometrics, statistics and programming and a desire to learn about them.
• In addition to excellent spoken and written English, fluency in a different language, particularly in one of the languages of Oxera’s core geographies, is advantageous.
